Kneeling by the Miami
It has been over fifteen years since a group of local citizens and business leaders created Miamisburg’s signature statue, Kneeling by the Miami that is located outside of the City of Miamisburg’s Civic Center First Street entrance.
Over the course of several years, our kneeling ancestor collected much of our areas native limestone. As one of the original overseers of the statue project, Bob Bell, agreed to step up to ensure our sculpture was cleaned properly before the Bicentennial Celebration.
By using the Miamisburg Community Foundation’s 501(3) (c) status, Bell secured private funding for this job. In mid-October, the statue was restored and once again, represents our City’s namesake tribe, the Miami.
Downtown Murals
The Miamisburg Community Foundation has been a partner in completing many murals in the downtown area. Most recently “The Last Record Store” mural was complete on the building located at 72 S. Main St. Find out more here.
The Foundation has been a catalyst and partner for other murals such as the art along the alley, and the Miamisburg postcard mural.
